Mike Bourscheid presents a performed reading exploring stereotypes, gender biases, and unconventional forms of love represented in fairy tales, fiction, and horror films. Inspired by the Grimm brothers, David Cronenberg, Disney, Silvia Federici, and the cultural history of hair in the Middle Ages, this reading examines the evolution of representations of beauty, the monster, and the other, contributing to persistent societal stereotypes. Bourscheid's artistic practice combines sculpture and performance, incorporating theatrical elements such as eccentric decor and costumes, addressing masculinity, European pretension, and patriarchal power.
