The film 'Le retour des Résistantes' - written and directed in 2023 by Natacha Giler - focuses on the difficult return of women deported from the Ravensbrück concentration camp in the spring of 1945. Four female resistance fighters bear witness to their struggle for recognition in a patriarchal post-war society.
In the spring of 1945, Ravensbrück, the largest concentration camp for women, was liberated. Although many lost their lives, some survived. It would take several months to evacuate the survivors. Marie-Claude Vaillant-Couturier, Marie José Chombart de Lauwe, Gisèle Guillemot and Thérèse Menot join forces to speak for “all the others”.
These women, eternal fighters, invite us to persevere in the struggle for freedom and respect for all, whatever the difficulties encountered.
