Zempia, heads or tails – Neither good nor bad choice, as long as you are not where you want to be. This creation explores the internal struggles of individuals experiencing emigration. Zempia voices courageous beings who continuously rise above to find and restore balance. They exist within an in-between; between yesterday and today, halfway toward a more stable status or situation. Amidst the turmoil, one senses isolation; within introspection, a certain indifference. Where to find strength to confront internal conflicts and heal invisible wounds? How to soothe the surge of violence faced with the unbearable? How to placate a sense of injustice? Against an immigration backdrop, this creation delves into the inner universe of human beings, capable of transforming suffering into happiness, sadness into joy, and insensitivity into emotion. Modestine Ekete showcases a human being gathering mental, psychological, and spiritual strength to achieve personal fulfillment and justice.
