Undoubtedly, she made music history. Shortly before her death at the age of 27, 55 years ago, Janis Joplin impressed rock stages worldwide and established herself as one of the greatest blues singers of her time. Simultaneously, an American band defined the global music scene: Creedence Clearwater Revival (CCR).
Creedence Clearwater Revival created the soundtrack of the 1970s, producing timeless songs. Many of these are featured on the legendary album "Cosmos Factory," the focus of their current tour. Released in July 1970, this album is one of six created by the band within two years, including songs such as "Travelin’ Band," "Lookin’ Out My Back Door," "Run Through The Jungle," "Up Around the Bend," "Who’ll Stop The Rain," and "I Heard It Through The Grapevine." CCR songs are deeply ingrained in the DNA of rock fans. The British tribute band Creedence Clearwater Review authentically brings this sound to life on stage.
Maggie Mackenthun channels the vocal essence of Janis Joplin. This Scotland-born singer, now based in Cologne, offers a stage retrospect of the sixties with her band "Kozmic Blue," specifically honoring Joplin. "Me And Bobby McGee," "Piece Of My Heart," "Cry Baby" – all these iconic songs that Joplin recorded during her brief career are staples of Mackenthun and her band's repertoire.
