The Grand Ducal Palace serves as the official residence of the Grand Ducal family and is located in the center of the Old Town.

The site of the current palace once housed the capital's first town hall, whose origins date back to 1418. After being destroyed by a gunpowder explosion in 1554, the town hall was rebuilt twenty years later. In 1741, the stone balcony balustrade was replaced with a wrought iron one that still exists today. In the mid-18th century, the building was enlarged on the right side with a Baroque-style building serving as a "Public Scales." In 1860, the Chamber of Deputies was built to the right of the Palace. Since 1890, the main building has served as the Grand Ducal Palace. From 1992 to 1995, the Palace underwent extensive restoration work.

During the summer months, the Luxembourg City Tourist Office is honored to organize exclusive guided tours of the Grand Ducal Palace. For 75 minutes, visitors can go behind the scenes of the Grand Ducal Palace and admire the Grand Duke's office, the dining room, and the King's Salon, to name a few. Through ticket sales, the Luxembourg City Tourist Office supports the "Fondation du Grand-Duc et de la Grande-Duchesse" (Grand Duke and Grand Duchess Foundation), a foundation that supports humanitarian programs and social and solidarity initiatives to help vulnerable people and those in great need, both in the Grand Duchy and in developing countries.

Come and enjoy a grand-ducal experience while discovering the history of the grand-ducal family.
