Pricklings is an interactive long-term performance that stages the artist as a trans saint, queer icon, fetish object, or voodoo doll. A craft project, a trial, a game. Initially presented in queer clubs, Pricklings explores trans embodiment, bodily autonomy, and the blurred boundaries between body and costume. In a moment of exchange, as the needle pierces the substituted flesh, religious, historical, medical, and magical iconography is reworked to create new rituals. In this new version of the work, EM Parry collaborates with Kith, multidisciplinary artists and musicians Fritha Jenkins and KA Harper, to weave new connections and entanglements through sound by sharing this corporeal experience.
