Alone on stage behind a punching bag she hits regularly, Julie Duval performs her own story in every tone, through all her voices: her mother, her father, her sister, her childhood friend from the South, her teachers, her coach… In The Smell of War, she prepares for her first boxing championship after going through countless struggles, ending her studies too early, and fleeing to Paris to pursue theatre. Between two kicks, she tells a story full of anger that is also a warm survival guide. After a triumphant run at the Avignon Festival, this physically intense and sharply humorous show sends stereotypes flying and powerfully raises the voice of a young woman of today.
