Welcome to the PEKiP course! PEKiP stands for Prague Parent-Child Program. The psychologist Dr. Koch, active in the 1960s in Prague, laid the foundation for today's courses, which focus on the baby's development and learning during their first year in connection with movement.
PEKiP is an educational concept for mothers and fathers with their babies during their first year. Starting from the 8th week and up to the first birthday, (grand)parents can attend weekly meetings with their babies. The PEKiP group typically consists of six to eight babies with parents, ideally remaining consistent throughout the year. These sessions, lasting 90 minutes, are conducted under the guidance of a trained PEKiP group leader.
The room is kept warm, allowing babies to move around unclothed, which enhances their activity and contentment. Over time, parents learn various play and movement suggestions that can be repeated, as repetition is the best way for babies to learn. These activities support the independent development of the baby's physical, cognitive, linguistic, and social skills. The progression of the child's development is not accelerated but gently supported.
This course is divided into age groups, and new sessions are regularly initiated. The courses take place at Betzdorf, 2b, rue d'Olingen, L-6832.
