Opening Moves - FLINTA* Chess Meeting
'Opening Moves – FLINTA* chess meeting' with Fiona Steil-Antoni
The chess world is often considered fair and meritocratic – but reality shows a clear imbalance: men dominate tournaments, coaching positions, and media coverage. Why is that? And how could chess change if FLINTA* people participated more actively?
This workshop is not about performance or winning, but about the fun of the game and the questions behind the black and white squares: How is inequality reflected in chess? And how can we turn the rules on their head? Luxembourgish chess presenter and player Fiona Steil-Antoni will provide insights into the world of women in chess and an introduction to the rules.
For all FLINTA* people – whether a chess beginner or experienced player.
The workshop will be accompanied by a book exhibition on the theme of 'Women in the World of Sport' at the CID library.
