The Art of Pigments
Smalt, bone black, and lapis lazuli are just some of the pigments used for centuries to produce paints. During this tour, participants will delve into the world of pigments. Beginning with 17th-century Dutch painting, they will learn more about the origin and use of pigments. A few examples, such as minerals, will be presented, inviting them to guess which shade of color comes from which object. But beware, appearances can be deceiving! The tour continues with a look at French art around 1850. Through careful observation, participants will discover unexpected and fascinating aspects.
