Seven Methods of Killing Kylie Jenner
Introduction to the play on March 6 at 19:45.
Post-show discussion following the performance on March 6.
Cleo has locked herself in her bedroom to write her dissertation on structural racism when a tweet sets her off: “At 21, Kylie Jenner becomes the youngest self-made billionaire ever.” But what’s self-made about inherited wealth and white privilege? Fueled by frustration, Cleo launches a series of anonymous tweets under the hashtag #kyliejennerfidead, fiercely calling out how white women appropriate and profit from Black culture and stereotypes. As her best friend voices concerns about Cleo’s digital escapism and the lines between online and offline blur, their childhood bond is tested by their differing lived experiences.
In this sharp, fast-paced, darkly comedic drama, Jasmine Lee-Jones tackles pressing debates around Black identity, beauty standards, cultural appropriation, racism, queerness, and wokism. She immerses the audience in the shifting realities of youth culture, provocatively exploring who owns Black female bodies—both online and in real life.
