At the intersection of important societal and environmental trends, the “Sustainable and Engaged Future” workshops aim to bring scientists and the general public together.
Inspired by the “Cafés des Sciences” model, we invite participants to engage openly with experts, ask questions, and express their opinions in six interactive public discussions. Each workshop is designed as an inclusive space where diverse perspectives are welcomed and valued. We aim to strengthen the connection between society and the University of Luxembourg by promoting direct interaction, openness, transparency, and public engagement. Join us on this exciting journey to bring science and the general public closer together, and work together toward a sustainable and engaged future.
Our fourth public debate is an interactive discussion with Dr. Marija Marić, Dr. César Reyes Nájera, Simona Popova (PhD student), and Prof. Christian Schulz from the Department of Geography and Spatial Planning at the University of Luxembourg, on how the principles of non-extractive architecture can help develop new design and research methods in the context of socio-environmental transition. This discussion will present ongoing research around the issues of construction and demolition waste, resource extraction, and land care, exploring their environmental, social, and economic dimensions. Through engaging presentations and discussions, you will discover the potential and limitations of non-extractive architecture and how it can contribute to a more sustainable future.
Don't miss this opportunity to connect with experts, share your ideas, and be inspired by transformative practices in regenerative architecture. Let's work together to build a future where our buildings are not only functional, but also environmentally responsible and resource-efficient.
