The chess world is often considered fair and meritocratic – but reality always shows a clear imbalance: men dominate tournaments, coaching positions, and media coverage. Why is that? And how could chess change if FLINTA* people were to participate more actively? This workshop is not about performance or winning but about the fun of the game and the questions that lie behind the black and white squares: How is inequality reflected in chess? And how can we turn the rules on their head? Our Luxembourgish chess presenter and chess player Fiona Steil-Antoni will provide input on the world of women in chess and an introduction to the rules. For all FLINTA* people – whether you are a chess beginner or experienced player. The workshop will be accompanied by a book exhibition on the theme of ‘Women in the world of sport’ at the CID library.
