Baubotanik refers to a construction method where buildings emerge from the interplay of technical assembly and plant growth. Living and non-living construction elements are connected in such a way that they merge into a plant-technical composite structure: individual plants fuse into a new, larger organism, and technical components integrate into the plant system.

Speaker: Jakob Rauscher

Jakob Rauscher studied architecture at the State Academy of Fine Arts in Stuttgart and the École Spéciale d’Architecture in Paris. He is passionate about conceptual design, drawing inspiration from unusual parameters such as time, growth, multifunctionality, and micro-living. Since 2012, he has been designing with, and since 2022 alongside, Daniel Schönle and Ferdinand Ludwig — creating cities, neighborhoods, houses, and trees. From 2016 to 2019, he worked as a research associate at the Department of Urban and Regional Planning at the Urban Planning Institute of the University of Stuttgart.
