The ancient custom of the "Hunnefeier" originates from the fact that in the past, on the last day of the grape harvest, a live rooster was tied to the end of the last row of vines to be harvested. The winegrower who harvested his row first, thus finishing the harvest first, received this rooster as a reward for his speed. This somewhat barbaric custom has naturally been replaced by a new one: every year, a new limited edition of the "Schengener Hinnchen" is created by a different artist. A clay rooster – an authentic and unique souvenir! Once you have your "Hinnchen" in hand, the flea and craft market awaits you with more than 100 stalls, international street artists, an exhibition of historic tractors and musical entertainment.
Of course, you can also taste the wines and crémants, as well as the local “Fiederwäissen” and “Fiederrouden” for a taste of the year’s vintage.
