Regular guided tour: Viaggio in Italia
The exhibition takes us on a journey through iconic Italian cities and regions. Spanning four centuries and by the hand of Italian, Dutch, French, and British painters, it presents idealized ancient landscapes, numerous vedute, and scenes of everyday urban life. The paintings share the southern light, elegant architecture, charming landscapes, and the omnipresence of antiquity.
In addition to views of the five cities mentioned, there are capricci, imaginative compositions of ancient ruins in bucolic landscapes. The Roman piazzas painted by Gaspar van Wittel (1652-1736), Canaletto's Venice (1697-1768), and the industrial city of Milan as seen by the futurist Umberto Boccioni (1882-1916) are among the exhibition's highlights.
At the end of the exhibition, visitors of all ages can create their own digital collage capriccio. A painting corner and a quiz round out the offerings for families with children.
All the works come from the collections of the Gallerie d'Italia, the museums of the Intesa Sanpaolo bank.
