Closing concert
To conclude MusicDays Vianden, two masters of musical refinement enter into dialogue: Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Richard Strauss. Mozart's Clarinet Quintet in A major, composed in 1789 for his friend Anton Stadler, captivates with its chamber-like intimacy and lyrical warmth—a subtle counterpart to his Horn Quintet, presented by Kammerata Luxembourg at the beginning of the festival. The work embodies a perfect balance of melancholic depth, grace, and dancing lightness.
Richard Strauss, for his part, pushes the game to the point of irony: in Le Bourgeois gentilhomme, he transforms Molière's comedy into musical theater—filled with stylized dances, baroque allusions, and delicious humor. In the chamber version, the score reveals all its finesse and offers a playful echo of Mozart's clarity. Thus, the festival closes with a refined dialogue between classical elegance and witty fantasy.
