Following the success of the first volume of the Lëtzebuerger Sproochatlas 1900 – the phonetic and morphological atlas created by Alain Atten and Claude Schmit – in 2023, comes its successor: the Word Atlas. This impressive collection contains around 250 dialect maps illustrating the vocabulary of the 1960s and 1970s in Luxembourg. Some expressions are still used today, while others are rare gems reflecting local culture. Join us this evening to delve into this atlas with the latest linguistic maps and explore the diversity of Luxembourgish dialects in the Arlon region. You will also gain insights into the meticulous research underlying this ambitious project. This evening is organized in collaboration with the Centre de la Langue Luxembourgeoise (ZLS) and will be moderated by Christiane Kremer.
