An impressive system of fortifications, mostly disappeared since the Treaty of London in 1867, defended Kirchberg and protected the fortress city. Engineer Vauban, who led the siege works in 1684, was tasked with developing a project to strengthen the fortress.

Two-hour guided tours. Required equipment: appropriate clothing, sturdy shoes, flashlight. Departure: Funicular, Boulevard JF Kennedy, Kirchberg. Available languages: DE, EN, FR, LU. Free.
