CinEast Film Festival and Rotondes invite you to a special event blending film, vinyl records, and a DJ! The movie "Funk YU" is a lighthearted tribute to vinyl, appealing to both collectors and music enthusiasts, regardless of their connection to the former Yugoslavia, where the story takes place.
The evening will also include a record fair hosted by Muaaah Records and Specific Recordings, along with a laid-back DJ set by Heincha.
About the movie:
Franko, a reluctant vinyl collector, embarks on an adventure across the former Yugoslavia to find the only vinyl record missing from his collection: the "Ulica Jorgovana / Zlatokosa" single by Darko Domjan, considered one of the finest examples of Yugoslav funk. Along the way, he meets a variety of colorful characters whom he interviews to gain insight into the obsession with digging through vinyl crates.

Franko Dujmić, a visual artist based in Croatia, holds an MA in animation and new media from the Academy of Fine Arts, University of Zagreb. He has authored experimental and animated short films and is a member of the Filmmakers Association of Croatia. "Funk YU," a hybrid-documentary, is his first feature film. It premiered at the 2024 IndieCork Film Festival and was also screened at ZagrebDox, Beldocs Serbia, and Dokumentale Berlin.
About the DJ:
In his kaleidoscopic vinyl DJ sets, DJ Heincha—also known as a member of the Riga Disco Blitz collective—incorporates diverse flavors of disco, funk, 80s synth, and other groovy music from all over the globe. A lifelong enthusiast of vinyl records, Heincha shares his musical finds in various venues across the city and in his home country after relocating to Luxembourg.
