The Walls Speak - Theater
World premiere. What do walls have to tell us? What stories do they carry? Seeking the source, the essence of these stories. Investigating. Restoring their memories. Overlaying our perspective, our writing. Our theatre. 'Face de mur' (Wall Face) and 'L’autre face' (The Other Face), two characters, strive to understand the origins of the marks on the wall. They move to rebuild what was destroyed. Stone by stone, they construct, mend, and repair. Perspective shifts: from different viewpoints, they perceive different things. Voices resound from various countries, creating a soundscape narrating memories they have traversed. 'Face de mur' (Wall Face) and 'L’autre face' (The Other Face) listen until the real can no longer be reinvented. Together, they construct a legend leading them onto a different path. From Lebanon to Luxembourg, through France, Charlotte Escamez and Laure Roldan explored walls covered in marks: words, drawings, messages, signs, holes, scars, impacts, cracks... These walls, not always of stone but sometimes human flesh and bone, testify to an unofficial history. They carry the voices of ordinary heroes often left unheard. Careful listening allowed them to transform these into theatre.
