In the shadows of his old house, an old man wanders from armchair to chair, from chair to his window, amidst a jumble of antique objects and clocks. He seems trapped in his solitude and monotonous life. Sometimes he opens a small bottle of red wine for company and hopes to see his cat, Mimi, who is often absent, appear again.
But through an object, a sound, music or smells, he gathers memories of past lives… and he remembers.
Pépé addresses the themes of loneliness, nostalgia, and the final departure.
With genuine tenderness we follow Angel's journey as he travels to the depths of his most beautiful memories, such as family, music, and friends, but also the most painful ones, such as Franco's dictatorship, the Spanish Retirada, migration, acceptance, and the departure of those who left him.
Pépé is the first solo puppet show by actress Clémence Joseph-Edmond, in which she addresses, with great humility and sensitivity, the fate of her grandfather and her family.
