"Heidi in the Mountains" is a Japanese-German animated film directed by Isao Takahata in 1975, in collaboration with Hayao Miyazaki, based on the novels by Johanna Spyri. Recommended for ages 5 and up, this classic presents an authentic, detailed depiction of the Alps, the result of extensive research. The film follows Heidi, an orphan who lives with her aunt Dete but is taken to her grandfather’s mountain cabin in the Swiss Alps. With a German version, this digitally distributed 88-minute film remains a masterpiece of Japanese animation. Presented at the Capucins Cinema-Theatre, organized by Cinémathèque de la Ville de Luxembourg.
