What meaning can we derive from playing with identities, creating alter egos, or stepping into someone else’s shoes? How do ideas such as gender, culture, or profession shape who we are?
Artist Eleanor Antin often transformed herself into characters—from other genders or different backgrounds, times, or places—to challenge these boundaries. Inspired by her work, Mudam invites you to a series of three workshops to reflect on identity and experiment with new ways of expressing yourself while rediscovering interpersonal connections.
Guided by three facilitators from diverse backgrounds, each workshop session will focus on a specific theme:
- Session 1: An introduction to gender studies and feminist strategies.
- Session 2: How performance and theatricality can help us imagine new stories about our sense of self.
- Session 3: A drag performer will guide you in creating an alter ego, exploring another side of your voice and identity through alterity.
