Soft Futures presents two interconnected artworks exploring care, resistance, and gentle transformation through small gestures and intimate materials. Gestures of Care – Framed Futures is a series of framed drawings enclosed in papier-mâché frames made from the artist's recycled residency documents and visa papers. These materials—formerly tools of restriction—now harbor tender scenes of connection between beings in imagined futures. The fragile structures are porous and flexible, inviting openness rather than control.
In dialogue with this series, Hidden Pockets is a laser-cut steel sculptural work forming three jackets, their volumes evoking pockets. It takes inspiration from medieval history, where women's pockets were suspected of witchcraft as they could contain knowledge or power deemed forbidden. Even today, pockets symbolize autonomy, intimacy, and emancipation—especially for women.
