Following *Ne me touchez pas* (23 • 24), dancer and choreographer Laura Bachman, a notable performer with the Paris Opera Ballet until 2016, and later with the companies of Benjamin Millepied and Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker, returns to the Grand Théâtre with a choreographic adaptation of Jean-Philippe Toussaint's magnificent tetralogy, *MMMM*. With *Commençons par faire l'amour* (Let's Start by Making Love), Bachman draws on the novels published by Éditions de Minuit to create a theatre of powerful and evocative images and movements, in a performance where the boundaries between disciplines dissolve. Dance blends with the visual force of theatre to tell an intimate and universal story: that of the character Marie, who could be any one of us, but also that of the relationships between men and women in a patriarchal world that must reinvent itself.
