Our forests are in danger, and the time to act is now. That's why we're bringing the Amazon to Luxembourg, and we hope to see many of you there!
November 7 (Giant letters, awareness stand & fun activities with Youth4Planet from 3pm)
Amazonia Light Show from 6:30 p.m.
The Amazon, the world's largest rainforest, is home to millions of people, boasts unique biodiversity, and plays a vital role in regulating the climate. But in just 50 years, more than 17% has already been destroyed, and we are approaching a tipping point where some areas could transform into savanna.
One of the main causes? Large-scale industrial livestock farming, destined for the global market, including Europe.
The good news: A new European law, the EU Deforestation Regulation (EDR), initially scheduled to come into force at the end of 2025, could make it possible to protect more than 8 million hectares by 2035.
The bad news: The agri-food industry is lobbying to weaken and delay this law. At the same time, the EU wants to conclude a trade agreement with Mercosur, which would increase meat imports from Brazil, further fueling deforestation.
This year, world leaders will gather in the heart of the Amazon, in Belém, for #COP30. This is our chance to turn promises into action.
Join us on November 7th to call on Luxembourg to reject the EU-Mercosur agreement and defend the EU Regional Development Plan. Let's demand concrete action to respect the Amazon: no delays, no compromises.
