Rumelange Symphony Circle
In 1994, Georges Wagner, originally from Schifflange, took over the direction of the Rumelange Circle Symphony Orchestra and led the ensemble to great musical heights. After technical studies, he devoted himself entirely to music. At the time, the orchestra had 60 musicians, 90% of whom were professionals.
Over the years, the shortage of amateur musicians became apparent, forcing the maestro to rely on professionals. The pandemic and his age ultimately led him to relinquish his baton. At the 2022 general assembly, several committee members stepped down, and the priority became finding a new conductor.
The succession was ensured by Sidney Scho, a citizen of Rumelange, a talented organist trained in conducting at the Luxembourg Conservatory.
The Circle, now renamed the Rumelange Symphony Circle, currently has around 45 amateur, student, and semi-professional musicians. Its new director wants to return the orchestra to its roots.
