Hive is the award-winning debut feature from director Blerta Basholli, a powerful portrait of resilience in the aftermath of war. Inspired by true events, the film follows Fahrije, a woman living in a rural village in Kosovo whose husband disappeared during the conflict. Faced with the need to provide for her family in a deeply patriarchal environment, she begins producing and selling homemade ajvar and honey, along with other women whose loved ones are also missing. Her determination, however, is met with resistance and hostility from the community, forcing Fahrije to confront prejudice and threats as she forges her own path to independence and dignity. Beyond its powerful story of individual courage and collective solidarity, Hive made history at the 2021 Sundance Film Festival, becoming the first Kosovar film to win the Grand Jury Prize, the Audience Award, and the Best Director Award in the World Cinema Dramatic category. It was subsequently selected as Kosovo's official submission for the 2022 Academy Awards.
