The exhibition presents a selection of Luxembourgish artworks, stretching from the classical modern era to the millennium transition, including numerous recent acquisitions and donations. The period before 1945 is represented by the 'Secessionists' Kutter, Rabinger, Schaack, and Klopp, as well as by Ernest Wurth and Adrienne Baudoin-d’Huart. Paintings by Henri Dillenburg and Nico Thurm, several series of images by Wil Lofy, collages by Roger Bertemes, and sculptures by Pit Nicolas testify to an artistic creation oscillating between figuration and abstraction. From the 1950s/60s onwards, artistic creation gains femininity (Jacqueline Hentges, Coryse Kieffer, Triny Beckius). Between the 1990s and early 2000s, paintings and graphic artworks by Moritz Ney, Marie-Paule Feiereisen, Annette Weiwers-Probst, and Renée Oberlinkels can be admired, along with a sculpture by Bettina Scholl-Sabbatini.
