After the German civil administration declared conscription in August 1942, a strike erupted across large parts of the country. In response, Gauleiter Simon ordered arbitrary executions and implemented a systematic plan: deportation. The Arendt family from Recken bei Miersch, who openly opposed the Nazis, was the first to be deported on September 19, 1942, with only a few hours to gather their belongings. After a long journey of suffering, they arrived at the resettlement camp in Boberstein, known as Lager 103. Despite the hardships, the family preserved their dignity. This account highlights their struggle and tragedy.
