Miss Julie - Theatre
During the midsummer night on a Swedish estate, festivities animate the kitchen. Julie, the affluent daughter of the estate owner, sets her attention on Jean, her servant. In the presence of the sleeping cook Kristin, who envisions marrying Jean, flirting ensues and leads both protagonists to Jean's chamber. Julie seeks an escape from her societal constraints, while Jean dreams of upward social mobility. As dawn approaches, the distinctions blur, leading to a clash with ensuing regrets.
This rendition of August Strindberg's renowned play by the Théâtre National de Luxembourg, directed by Stefan Maurer, highlights the captivating partnership of Nora Koenig and Thomas Braus, who establish an intense and hypnotic dynamic throughout the performance.
