Workshop: Fragments of Self with Lisa Junius
The 'Modules' programme offers you the opportunity to work closely with artists and delve into the world of contemporary art. You will explore new techniques, broaden your artistic understanding, and develop your skills through a series of encounters. This workshop is guided by Lisa Junius.
How can one explore different facets of their identity through art? How can you, like Eleanor Antin, create an alter ego inspired by yourself, but distorting reality to portray a fictional yet autobiographical character?
The workshop will explore the use of mosaic techniques as a form of intuitive, sensory, and symbolic expression. Using simple shapes, colors, and material fragments, you will be invited to create a piece reflecting an aspect of yourself, whether real, imaginary, or hidden.
Biography:
Lisa Junius, a Luxembourg-born interdisciplinary visual artist and ceramicist, explores tranquil inner worlds inhabited by female figures, cosmic elements, and mental landscapes. Employing mediums such as painting, ceramics, illustration, and design, her meditative and sensory visual language offers re-enchantment and gentle resistance. Inspired by nature, lunar cycles, and an intuitive aesthetic, her work questions notions of femininity, everyday magic, autonomy, and healing.
