The inhabitants of Remich have their own traditions, such as for Ash Wednesday. Indeed, on this day, the Stréimännchen, a straw figure, is burned to mark the end of carnival and winter.
According to tradition, a "dancing" procession carries the Stréimännchen through the streets of Remich to the Moselle bridge. Upon reaching the bridge, the Stréimännchen is burned and then thrown into the water. Traditionally, mulled wine, potato pancakes, and fried fish, combined with a wonderful atmosphere, accompany the event.
