Since the very beginnings of cinema, the sun has shaped storytelling and emotion on screen. A symbol of hope, renewal, or the end of a cycle, it structures cinematic time and enriches narrative meaning.

This talk explores how filmmakers have turned the sun into a powerful symbolic and narrative tool, from the spiritual light of Terrence Malick to the apocalyptic visions of Mad Max: Fury Road and Blade Runner 2049, as well as the works of Kurosawa, Coppola, and Tarkovsky. Through iconic film clips, it reveals why this celestial body remains one of the most powerful motifs in cinema history.

Conference organized as part of the exhibition - Here Comes the Sun: Art, Energy and Natural Intelligence.
