Everyone has a story to tell, but telling a personal story in front of an audience does not come naturally to everyone. In this three-part workshop for adults, you will learn how to tell a rich, personal story and engage your audience.
On the last day, each participant will have the opportunity to tell their story to the group if they wish. The participation fee includes tea and coffee. You may also bring your own food, and refreshment breaks are scheduled during the three days.
This workshop does not involve reading written texts aloud, nor is it a form of therapy, though we will examine our personal narratives to extract genuine stories to share.
Please bring a notebook and pen. I will guide you step by step through the process of reworking an existing story, finding your own story, and identifying its message. Many games and group exercises are planned. Attendance at all three sessions is essential.
Trainer: Jess Bauldry, a journalist, writer, and stand-up performer, holds a master's degree in creative writing, co-founded the feminist comedy festival Festrogen, and is part of the Frilly Curtains Comedy collective, both organizing storytelling events.
