Annie Kraus and Christian von Blohn will introduce you to J.S. Bach's Six Brandenburg Concertos. Composed between 1718 and 1721, these concertos illustrate the dynamic between soloists and orchestra with fascinating instrumental diversity, from the virtuoso trumpet in Concerto No. 2 to the innovative use of the harpsichord as a solo instrument in Concerto No. 5. Dedicated to Margrave Christian Ludwig of Brandenburg-Schwedt, these works are a celebration of virtuosity and creativity.
More than 200 years later, composer Max Reger brought these masterpieces back to life with four-hand piano transcriptions. An admirer of Bach, Reger did not seek to replace the orchestra, but to offer a new perspective, revealing the pure structure and melodic clarity of these concertos. A unique rediscovery, rich in subtlety and musical depth.
