Over the course of a year, eleven-year-old Santino grows up in an itinerant circus family, surrounded by his parents, aunts, uncles, brother, a host of animals, and his great-grandfather Ehe, one of the last great ringmasters. As he travels from city to city with his troupe, finding his footing within this close-knit community despite the instability of daily life, Santino begins to find his own place in the ring. The magic of the circus comes alive on screen through charming animations in this uplifting documentary about a nomadic family's dedication to their art. Both entertaining and wise, Zirkuskind sincerely explores the feeling of belonging to a group and will delight audiences of all ages.
