Al Di Meola is considered one of the best guitarists of our time. His ongoing fascination with complex rhythmic syncopations, combined with provocative lyrical melodies and sophisticated harmonies, has been at the heart of his music throughout a celebrated career spanning four decades. He has received critical acclaim, four gold albums, two platinum albums, sold over six million albums worldwide, five German gold albums, and various awards, including an honorary doctorate from Berklee College of Music, the Miles Davis Award from the Montreal Jazz Festival, a BBC Lifetime Achievement Award presented by Sir George Martin in 2008, the Lyra Award from the Hungarian Foundation for the Performing Arts, as well as numerous Grammy Award nominations and wins. Al has won the most prestigious guitar awards, a total of 12 accolades in Guitar Player magazine polls, earning him induction into their Gallery of Greats.
