1919. The world, still marked by the scars of war, seeks to find its voice again. In this context of upheaval, three composers — Rebecca Clarke, Paul Hindemith, and Ernest Bloch — wrote works for viola and piano where melancholy, passion, and the power of rebirth are intertwined. These sonatas, on the border between Romanticism and modernity, bear the echo of the deepest human emotions: grief and memory, but also hope and newly found light. Between shadow and flame, each note testifies to a world being rebuilt and to the intensity of the artistic soul that persists in spite of everything. Let yourself be taken away by these flashes of post-war Romanticism, where lyricism and inner tension intertwine to tell the story of 1919 as a year of fragility and regained beauty.

Rebecca Clarke (1886-1979): Sonata for Viola and Piano
Ernest Bloch (1880-1959): Suite for Viola and Piano
Paul Hindemith (1895-1963): Sonata for Viola and Piano, Op. 11 No. 4
