Tessa, a criminal defense lawyer, is highly skilled at securing acquittals, even when the evidence seems overwhelming. She specializes in difficult cases, particularly those concerning sexual offenses, by meticulously uncovering prosecution mistakes. To her, justice relies on the presumption of innocence. But her world is turned upside down when, after a night of partying, her colleague Julian acts inappropriately towards her. This time, Tessa finds herself not defending, but accusing, and must gather the evidence she usually dismantles. Suddenly, she feels powerless in a court system she once controlled, experiencing first-hand the weaknesses facing victims. Written by Australian-British author and lawyer Suzie Miller, the play exposes the flaws in the judicial system, especially from the victim's perspective.
