Summer. It's warm, and a family meets by the lake. Konstantin has dropped out of his studies and, together with Nina, with whom he is madly in love, is preparing a play that aims to revolutionize theater. In the audience: his mother, the famous Arkadina, and her lover, the successful writer Trigorin. But Konstantin's worst nightmare comes true: before the play is even finished, an argument breaks out. Family relationships are shaken, new couples form, and nothing will ever be the same again.
"The Seagull" by Chekhov is one of the most-performed plays worldwide, and for the first time, this text is presented in a modern adaptation in Luxembourgish. The characters are at the center of a generational conflict and social tensions that are still relevant today. What is the place of young people? What is worth fighting for? Where are compromises made, and what must one believe in life? The protagonists of this classic search for meaning and support, love each other, talk past each other, try to believe in one another, and are touchingly and strangely human.
