This concert pays tribute to Pierre Nimax senior, a major figure in Luxembourg's musical life. Deeply rooted in Luxembourg's cultural landscape for over seventy years, he influenced several generations as a teacher at the Conservatoire de la Ville de Luxembourg, conductor of the Grand Ducal Military Band, composer, choir director, pianist, educator, author of pedagogy books, and master of the chapel at the Grand Ducal Court.
The program particularly highlights his vocal compositions as well as his works for chamber orchestra, at the heart of his musical language, combining vocal sensibility, clarity of writing, and expressive depth. A symbolic moment of the concert, the Rondino facile will be performed, as at its premiere, by two very young pianists, recalling the importance the composer placed on musical transmission and awakening for new generations.
