Sofia, a reserved and studious 18-year-old girl, is about to finish her last year of high school when her sister Joan dies in a tragic accident. Consumed by guilt, Sofia decides to travel across Europe, as Joan had planned but never could.
She leaves with Joan's backpack and itinerary, moving from city to city, meeting strangers and having new experiences, searching for something she cannot yet name. A tender and attentive coming-of-age journey that unfolds on the road. Visually evocative and carried by the memorable performance of Margarida Domingos in the lead role of Sofia, "Apples & Pears" suggests that profound loss can paradoxically bring us back to life.
