Week 2: Making the Ordinary Strange — Visual Juxtaposition and Comparisons
Challenge your usual ways of seeing and thinking. This week is all about experimentation and play.
You will explore:
• Free association and surreal exercises
• Strategies for seeing ordinary things in an extraordinary way: Collage, decontextualization, and the power of contrast
• Juxtaposition and visual comparisons create poetic relationships between images
• Mapping and grids to organize your visual thoughts
• Conceptual tension: balance between external perception and internal meaning
