Winner of the second Capucins Libre residency for final creation, the transdisciplinary company Quai n°7 presents its play Aux suivante! to the Luxembourg public. Quai n°7 champions an open and cooperative approach, where materials and languages meet, in a dramaturgical exploration that blends visual arts, live sound creation, text, body and song, to bring intimate trajectories to the stage against a backdrop of societal problems.
For her new creation, Juliette Steiner and the entire company team are tackling the missing legacy of women artists who are too little known, forgotten, or even dispossessed. These artists, their words, and their works will form a visual and theatrical poem, akin to a surrealist collage, with the aim not of giving an art history lesson but rather of revealing the richness we deprive ourselves of by telling only a fragment of the story, or by forgetting an entire chapter of history.
Blending live drawing, theater, and an improvised DJ set, the team on stage plays with the appearance and disappearance of female artists in a joyful interplay of echoes and resonances. A lecturer becomes a performer, Britney Spears meets Camille Claudel, and Louise Bourgeois rubs shoulders with a cave painter, Artemisia Gentileschi, or the Guerrilla Girls... The Dada baroness Elsa von Freytag-Loringhoven is never far away either! Juliette Steiner takes hold of all these figures to create, in turn, her own work.
