Patrick Bonté and Nicole Mossoux gained their European reputation through a memorable show revolving around Lucas Cranach, a prominent painter of the Renaissance. This is a performance the two Belgian artists are reinventing today, 35 years later. In this work filled with mesmerizing illusions, dancers emerge from behind frames, resembling characters graced with a peculiar kind of sensual charm. Whether named Adam, Eve, Judith, or Lucrecia, these resurrected figures offer us the joy of breaching prohibitions with them, five centuries apart.
