The presence of women in art is not insignificant, as it reflects a long history. Initially used as models, women have gradually entered creative spaces to showcase their skills and voices on numerous topics. Among these is the representation of the female body, which, in the hands of women artists, has been able to move beyond the male gaze towards a truer depiction of reality and raise many social issues, especially within the feminist art movement of the 1960s and 1970s. This conference offers a retrospective of the various stages in art history where women established themselves as artists, up to their current role in contemporary body art. Lucile Girardet is a PhD candidate in Fine Arts at CREM, University of Lorraine. Conference co-organized with the University of Lorraine.
