Desire Maps is an interactive map-making performance where audience members are invited to reimagine the geographical journeys of their ancestors. Directed by PROJEKT EUROPA’s artistic director Maria Aberg and visual author and video designer Akhila Krishnan, Desire Maps is a participatory performance exploring migration, the climate crisis, and the intersection of personal history with global events.
Blending live projected illustration, video design, headphones, and audience participation, this performance invites people to redraw their ancestors' paths, step into their shoes, and imagine a moment of choice: this way or that? What if they had taken a different route and where might they have gone?
