Talk "KANAL – Centre Pompidou. From Cars to Culture"
The KANAL project in Brussels, a former Citroën garage (built 1933-34) undergoing major transformation, is set to become one of Europe’s largest centres for modern and contemporary art and architecture. LUCA invites you to discover this exceptional project, thanks to the combined experiences of three speakers: Kristiaan Borret (Bouwmeester Maître Architecte 2015-2025, Brussels), Philippe Viérin (noAarchitecten, Brussels) and Aliki Loïzidis (L'ÉQUIPE architectes, Brussels).
Kristiaan Borret will present the project's vision, highlighting its complexity and the collaborative process guided by diversity and experimentation. Philippe Viérin will discuss the transformation of the former Citroën factory into a cultural "Third Place," open to arts and performance and encouraging interaction and collective use. Aliki Loïzidis will explain the architectural concept for the bar-brasserie, designed as a mediator between city and culture and inspired by the site's industrial heritage.
Organised as part of the “Soft Power: The Brussels Way of Making the City” exhibition.
